Hamish and Andy—Australia’s comedy legends and podcasting power duo—know how to bring the laughs. From unforgettable radio pranks to their smash-hit podcast, they’ve turned everyday Aussie humor into an art form.
Their latest escapade, ConCon, a Gold Coast “conference for all,” (originally dubbed “a conference so nice, you can deduct it twice” until a letter from the ATO caused a few *ahhh* legal clarifications), was no exception, bringing together fans for a weekend of chaos, comedy, and, of course, the best part of any conference - biscuits.
But the true stars of the event? (in our humble opinion) Toowoomba’s own Kingston Crumb, who brought their biscuit-themed brilliance to the ConCon stage.
The story of how Kingston Crumb ended up on this quirky stage is as good as their set. The band, whose name was chosen by Facebook poll back in 2022, has always embraced “creativity with a dash of humor”. So when long-time fan Joel Hunt, the band’s electric guitarist, missed out on tickets to ConCon, he decided to shoot his shot. Knowing their band name was a perfect match for ConCon’s famous “biscuit hour”, Joel sent an email to Hamish & Andy’s team. A bold move? Sure. But it paid off when Hamish Blake personally replied and booked them *sight-unseen* for the event.
Cue the lights on the ConCon stage, where Kingston Crumb—featuring Ethan Bielefeld (vocals), Joel Hunt (guitar), Brendan Stuart (bass), and Harry Schneider (drums)—turned classics like Wonderwall and Take Me Home, Country Roads into biscuit-themed bangers. Think Valerie with a Tim Tam twist or Country Roads crooning about Scotch Fingers. The crowd? Absolutely hooked.
But this wasn’t just about clever lyrics. The band leaned into the biscuit vibe, printing a giant biscuit graphic for their kick drum and rocking Hamish & Andy-themed shirts. Hamish was quick to applaud the effort, calling it “next level,” while Andy Lee chimed in with, “The band was playing great.” And in classic Hamish & Andy fashion, the podcast later declared Kingston Crumb “Australia’s best biscuit-themed band.”
“We wanted to bring something fun and unexpected,” said lead singer Ethan Bielefeld. “The biscuit hour gave us the perfect excuse to get creative, and seeing the crowd’s reaction made it all worth it.”
For Kingston Crumb, this isn’t just a fun one-off. Known for their energetic gigs and ability to keep audiences guessing, the band is steadily making a name for themselves in the local music scene—and beyond.
With big plans for 2025 and gigs lined up across Toowoomba. Keep an eye on their Instagram page for updates—you’ll want to catch their next act. Whether it’s biscuits or beats, Kingston Crumb proves that creativity, a little cheekiness, and a dash of community spirit can take you anywhere.
