ABOUT & DESIGN / Loulaki (Lou-lah-kee)

If Mediterranean flavours make your heart sing, Loulaki may just be your new favourite spot.

Having opened in Duggan Lane in April, the restaurant is the latest endevour from the team behind Piccolo Papa, with owner Ceyda Saggers (her father heralding from Greece), who, together with Penny Hely (East Street Kitchen), creating a modern Greek dining experience, reminiscent of those found across it's Aegean island inspiration.

The design here is all about balance—soft tones play against natural wood finishes and lush indoor plants. It’s fresh, it’s calming, and it feels right.

The semi-open kitchen adds to the buzz, where you can see the chefs at work, crafting dishes that are both visually enticing and delicious. On a Spring day, opt for a spot outside, the al fresco dining area is a sun-dappled retreat, perfect for people-watching or catching up with friends.

FOOD & DRINKS / The menu here is a true celebration of the Med, with a focus on fresh, flavor-packed ingredients that bring the rustic charm of Greek dining to life—only, with an elevated twist. Think generous portions designed to share amougst friends in the truely Greek way; the must-try Lamb for example easily feeds 5 or 6.

Must Try Dishes: We can't look past that Lamb (seriously!), the Cheese Saganaki is mouthwatering, Watermelon Salata (we're not sure how this works, but it does), the Meze, and of course the Honey Loukomades for dessert (Mwha *Chef's Kiss*).

Naturally, no visit would be complete without a glass or two of Ouzo, a Mediterranean Red or a pick stright from the cocktail menu, designed by none-other than their Duggan Lane nieghbours at Sante.

OTHER / Keep an eye out for the launch of their upcoming 'Sunday Long Lunches' , Greek Taverna Nights complete with live music, and word-on-the-street this year's must-do Melbourne Cup charity event (complete with Plate smashing).
