The Field Guide's Summer newspaper is out now
Our 14th edition – ready for your summer break– is out this weekend.
Published 19 December 2024
Wow! What a year huh! . . .
Not in a bad way, just a little like how a bump-in roller-coaster at an old country show looks deceptively calm and genteel from the ground, but leaves you white-knuckled, heart-racing, and questioning its maintenance record, mid-ride.
With the season well and truly in full swing (this one got away from us a little), the slightly-delayed fourteenth edition of our street newspaper is out in local shops and cafés, and it’s an ode to Summer!
You’ll find stories about family, and the joys of Summer, with beautiful images by photographer Pip Williams. Nicole Yap explores Toowoomba’s Vintage and Retro scene, we take a trip to Crows Nest, to visit Myrtille, one of QLD’s top restaurants, and George Banks shares their very Summery (and absolutely mouth-watering) recipe for Moroccan Chicken Skewers, just in time for BBQ season.
Read about a farmer with a heart for mentoring, and find out all about our latest initiative, a city-wide scavenger hunt with some serious cash prizes on the line.
As always, we’re so thankful to you our readers, or the encouragement, the support, the hi-fives (literal and digital) - whose stories we get the joy of hearing and telling and who make this region the special place it is.
And of course, a HUGE Thank you to our advertisers – The Empire, Bella Vino, Aurora Elwell, Good Real Estate, UNISQ Art Gallery, & Highlands – who’s support has enabled us to pull together this jam-packed 32 pages of local journalism and photography.
We hope you love it, as much as we do.
